When we collect information, you are not obliged to provide us with your personal information. However, where personal information is necessary to provide certain services, should you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to provide you with the corresponding products or services, nor respond to or solve any problems that you encounter. In addition, according to the nature of certain realme products or services, and where permissible by law, we may obtain data about you from public or commercial sources, and may combine that information with other information that we have received, or that is related to you. How your personal information may be used

We collect your personal information to provide you with products and/or services, to improve and optimize our services so as to deliver a better product experience, and to ensure that our products or services function properly and safely. We will process your personal information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as our agreement with you, either with your consent, or when we need to fulfill our obligations to you under the user agreement and/or service contract, when we are bound by legal obligations, or when, after evaluation, we deem it necessary to protect our legitimate interests or those of a third party.

You hereby agree that we may process your personal information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy and disclose your personal information to our affiliated companies (in relation to communications, social media, technology, and cloud services) and third-party service providers (as defined below).

We may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide, process, maintain, improve, and develop our merchandise and/or services to you, and services provided through connected devices or realme Link.

  • To communicate with you, provide customer support, or notify you through push services: We will communicate with you about your devices, services, or any general inquiries (concerning updates, device firmware/software upgrades, customer queries and support, relevant information, and notifications) by methods including notifications and service follow-ups.

  • To improve products and the user experience: We will perform statistical analysis on information collected about the use of our products and services to improve and develop our products and services, enhance the user experience of our products, and boost product performance.

  • To provide you with personalized services and carry out marketing related activities: We may use your personal information to conduct user profile and behavior analysis in order to display and push to you more suitable information, products, or services, or to improve protection and security. For example, we will provide your app download and uninstall history to the App Market you use so that it can recommend you products that you might be interested in. In addition, we may combine personal information we have collected about you through our services to provide you with a better overall product and service experience.

  • To provide direct marketing services: We may use your contact information (such as your phone number and email address), account number, and IMEI number to provide you with promotional materials related to products and services from us, our affiliate companies, and our partners (in relation to networking, mobile applications, and cloud products and services). We strictly comply with the requirements of data protection laws in your jurisdiction, and will use your data only after obtaining your consent explicitly, or by a clear affirmative action, to confirm that you have expressed no objection. If you no longer wish to receive certain types of email, you can unsubscribe through the relevant settings.
  • To conduct analysis, audits, and fraud prevention: We may use the data you provide to verify your identity, analyze our business efficiency, review transactions, and prevent fraud. We only use statistical data for these purposes, and the use of such data will not be linked to you personally.

  • To keep and maintain records of information relating to you: We may use this information in our operations, or to fulfill our legal obligations.

Where our use of your information goes beyond the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, or the purposes indicated at the time of its collection, but when there is a direct or reasonable connection with the original purpose, we will ask for your consent in advance. We will not provide your personal information or behavioral data to any third parties without your consent, except as otherwise provided by laws and regulations.

Below are some other ways in which we use your information:

  • To log in to realme Link: When you log in to realme Link, the personal information you provide of your own accord and the information you authorize us to obtain when you log in through the account of an affiliate or partner will be used to create your personal account and profile page.

  • To provide location-based services: When using realme Link and devices connected to realme Link, we may use your location information to determine the time zone of your device. This is to ensure that the correct time and login service area are displayed, as well as to enable other experiences, such as turning on devices in advance according to your preferences. You can turn this feature off at any time by going into the Device Settings, or by ceasing to use this application.

  • To enable the device to connect: To use the device via the app, the authenticity of the device must first be verified. This is done by checking the factory MAC, IMEI, and other information. In addition, if the device requires an Internet connection, the network settings for the device must be configured through the app. This requires you to enter the corresponding Wi-Fi name and password. This information is only used to configure the device’s network settings. In addition, to ensure a stable network connection, we also use the IP address and network signal strength to determine the optimal connection method for the device.

  • To display the device status: It is possible to remotely view the status of the device, so you can check the status at any time.

  • To set up automated tasks: Event information reported by your devices can be used to create personalized automated tasks. (Event information originates from devices you have added, and the information that can be configured varies according to the privacy permissions you grant the device. Each device added is covered by a separate privacy policy maintained by the device provider, and you can choose whether or not to agree to these policies.)

  • To provide notifications and push services: Your realme Link account and IMEI number will also be used to provide realme Link push services and to send device notifications to users, such as showing the connection status of associated devices. You can turn this feature off at any time by changing your preferences under “Message Settings”.

  1. How We Retain Your Personal Information

In general, we retain your personal information only for the period of time necessary to achieve the purposes as set out in this Privacy Policy, or as has been notified to you at the time of its collection, unless a longer retention period is required by law. We will delete or anonymize your personal information upon expiry of the retention period, as described above.

If we stop operating some or all of our products or services for special reasons, we will promptly inform you and stop the collection and processing of personal information by related products or services, and we will delete or anonymize personal information we hold that is related to said products or services, unless otherwise required by laws and regulations.

Your personal information will not be shared with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
  • Sharing with affiliated companies: Your personal information may be shared with affiliates of realme. We may share some of your personal information with our partners to improve our customer service and user experience. Our authorized partners include, but are not limited to, carriers, regional agents of realme, logistics companies, realme cloud service providers, and technical service providers. For example: When you use a weather application, in order to provide you with a more accurate weather forecast service, we may need to provide your location information to a professional third-party service provider. Likewise, when analyzing your error logs, we may need to provide your log information to the corresponding third-party service providers or technical service providers for those apps.
  • Where we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy liquidation and it is necessary to transfer your personal information, we will require that the new company or organization that will hold your personal information continues to be bound by the terms set out in this Privacy Policy; otherwise we will require said company or organization to request your permission and consent again. If the transfer of your personal information is not necessary, we will keep you fully informed and delete or anonymize all personal information under our control.

We will require that the above-mentioned third parties take considerable confidentiality and security measures, such as by concluding agreements or taking other appropriate measures, when handling personal information.
