How to use NFC payments?

Update Time: 2023-11-24 17:51:53

NFC payments are contactless payments that use near-field communication (NFC) technology to exchange data between readers and payment devices like Google Pay e-wallets in smartphones or tap-to-pay credit and debit cards.

Conditions of Use:

1. Phone has an NFC feature.

2. NFC feature has been enabled.

Path: Settings > Search "NFC" in the search bar > Enable NFC.

Take GPay / Google pay NFC payments as an example.

GPay users first have to add their NFC-powered credit and debit cards as a payment option alongside the existing bank account option. Kindly follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Google Pay or GPay app on your phone.

Step 2: Tap the 'Settings' option and then the 'Payments methods' option. Then select the 'Add Card' option.

Step 3: Enter your card details like card number, expiry date, CVV, and the cardholder’s name and billing address, and then tap 'Save'.

Step 4: Google will contact your bank to verify your card. You can choose the verification option.

Step 5: You will then be asked for additional authentication via OTP.

Step 6: Then, next to your new card’s payment method listing, tap 'Activate' and enter your One-Time Password (OTP).

After your card is verified, you’re ready to use it for transactions. Adding your card to Google Pay will register your card for Tokenized card payments for all the uses below:

  • Tap and Pay at NFC-enabled terminals.

  • QR code-based payments at merchants.
