From 0 to 100 million

Stay Fearless. Stay Passionate. realme Turns 3.

On August 28th, we will be celebrating realme’s 3rd anniversary.

The team mentioned to me that on our third anniversary, we have also reached another milestone. According to the latest report by Strategy Analytics, realme is the fastest brand ever to ship 100 million smartphones. In the second quarter of 2021, realme was also the fastest-growing major smartphone brand in the world, as data from IDC showed.

When people call us "the fastest-growing mobile phone brand in the world", or "the industry's dark horse" or "the world's seventh largest smartphone brand", they’re often amazed at the growth we’ve achieved. People ask me "what's behind this growth?" and "what is realme all about?"

The answer to that is twofold. First, we've remained true to our core objective since day one. This is encapsulated in the spirit of our motto "Dare to Leap". That spirit of boldness, as well as the hard work and effort of the realme team who work tirelessly, day in and day out, that is what drives our success.

At realme, our mission is to provide young people around the world with products that offer stellar performance and trend-setting design at reasonable prices.

In our day-to-day work as a team, we are challenged by problems and issues that need to be resolved, but as long as we keep in mind four key phrases: "global youth", "reasonable prices", "superior performance" and "trend-setting design", we will never lose our way.

Three years may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but the past three years have constituted realme's infancy or startup stage. We've made it through and are now ready to move forward into a brand-new phase.

At this point in time, I think the most important thing for us is still the same: to stay fearless and stay passionate.

Our goal is to be more than a three-year-old company. Our goal is about more than a five-year plan with a sales target attached. Our goal is about more than existing as a company for the next 10 or 20 years. At its heart, our goal is about daring to imagine that the spirit of realme will continue to exist many, many years from now. That the spirit of "Dare to Leap" will continue to inspire young people, and that our products will continue to offer stellar performance and trendy design.

In sports, the word “underdog” is often used to describe the team that is expected to lose the game, but with enough grit and gusto, the underdog can also win the day. This happens to align with realme’s ethos of “Dare to Leap”, in a way, our story is the story of the underdog.

Don’t be daunted by challenges. Don’t be intimidated by the bigger player. Stay passionate about our products and the people who use them. This is what we’ve done in the past, and what we’ll continue to strive for in the future.

Over the last three years, our biggest wins have not been about sales numbers or industry recognition.

Our most valuable assets have been our colleagues. We may be working halfway across the world from each other, we may come from completely different backgrounds and cultures, we may have completely different ways of thinking about and approaching projects, but we’re united by the same core values and we’re guided by the same ethos.

Our greatest win is the synergy we’ve found with each other. So I hope that the spirit of “Dare to Leap” continues to inspire each and every one of us. No matter how far we go, I want us to always keep in mind what realme is all about, and why we set out to do what we’re doing now.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, but at realme, we don’t step, we leap. So I’m thrilled to take that leap today and share with you some of our goals and next steps for the next 3 years.

First and foremost, we will continue to create great products for young people. To this end, we will be launching a realme User Co-Development Program that will empower young people to get involved in the design and development of our mobile phones and AIoT products. Ultimately, the goal is to make realme a brand for young people, by young people.

Simultaneously, we’ve also set a growth target of “Dual 100 million” — this means we’re aiming to add another 100 million units to that sales volume figure by the end of 2022. And in 2023, we want to add another 100 million units.

Finally, as we continue to build our mobile phone business, we’re going to keep expanding our operations in AIoT, with the goal of becoming the leading AIoT brand in several key markets. In June of this year, we launched our "1+5+T" strategy, with smartphones at the core, and five key AIoT products — computers, tablets, TVs, watches, and TWS earphones — as a framework for creating a comprehensive TechLife Internet of Everything ecosystem.

Our long-term goal is to become a heavy-hitter on a global scale, as well as the trendsetter of choice for young people around the world. The last three years have been a fantastic start, and worth celebrating, but what’s even more exciting to me are the challenges ahead. We’re going to continue to find ways to make our products and our brand more sustainable, and we’re going to keep making an impact on more and more users around the world, just as some of the great brands that have come before us have done.

Friends and co-creators, let’s take the next leap. Onward to the exciting, challenging, and rewarding journey ahead. Onward to the next three years!
